Why Antidote? What drew you to the team?
I loved the entrepreneurial spirit, the hunger to do things differently and, ultimately, the ambition to succeed. I particularly enjoyed how the team doesn’t shy away from ambition and the emphasis they place on kaizen, the art of constantly self-improving. There’s a real sense that everyone wants to keep learning, push themselves and make things better, which really resonated with me. I also loved that the team felt genuinely close-knit as well.
What do you enjoy most about working in the industry?
The thrill of seeing coverage go live, meeting journalists for lunch, and coming up with an idea based on something that has happened in the news. I love the speed of the news cycle and the fact that no two days are really the same. You can start the morning working on a planned campaign and by lunchtime be completely rethinking an angle because something has happened in the world.
I also love how creative this industry is, despite AI running rampant. We have to constantly adapt, think on our feet and find new ways to tell a story. More than anything, I love the people. You get to work with so many different personalities, from journalists and founders to CEOs and industry experts, and every conversation can spark a completely new idea.
Who inspired you to be in PR?
Olivia Pope from Scandal. I fell in love with the art of communications from that show. It made me realise that almost everything we see has gone through someone in the communications field, whether it’s a president’s speech, a CEO’s comments on their company’s impending IPO or a celebrity’s cancelled post.
Apart from Olivia Pope, it was my professors at Boston University who really inspired me. I loved the passion they had for their profession and the way they took the time to nurture our love for communications, whether that was teaching us the history of PR, the art of networking, the business of PR, writing press releases and investor relations. They really helped me understand how much thought, strategy and creativity sits behind good communications, and ultimately nurtured my love and inspiration for PR.
What do you love most about working in London?
London is one of my favourite cities in the whole world. I always say this to everyone I meet: each part of London feels like a new country you get to explore. It’s such a melting pot of culture and diversity, and there’s always something new happening around the corner.
You also meet the coolest people in the most random places, from standing in line at M&S, to walking to work. I love that you can have completely different experiences depending on what part of the city you’re in. It truly is magical, and I feel very lucky to be able to work here, experience everything it has to offer and grow as an individual.
